Seeds will start inside in this kit. They will take about 4-5 weeks before they are ready to plant. We keep them warm and humidified. We monitor the humidity closely to prevent any type of mold from growing. It’s a delicate process but easy to manage once you learn it.
100% Organic Non-GMO Heirloom Jalapeño seeds purchased from a local farmer that cleans his own seeds each year.
Here we have the strongest remaining sprouts. We have pulled the smaller plants out which then leaves only the bigger plants that are the strongest. We are about two weeks away from moving to a bigger container and about four weeks away from planting.

This is about halfway through the sprouting season. They are healthy plants at this point. We limit water to avoid mold. Notice some pods have two plants growing in them. We will remove the little plant and let the bigger plant live as we want the strongest of the two plants.

This is the next step. This is also a delicate process. It is highly stressful on the plants and tomorrow we will know if we kept the environment suitable for the sprouts. Too much stress and they will all die overnight. We played classical music to soothe them into a slumber before we gently removed them from their original home into the next stage.
btw… The white stuff that looks like fertilizer is Perlite. A naturally occuring volcanic glass that can retain some moisture while allowing a well-draining soil mixture. This prevents the soil from becoming too packed and causing bacteria and other fungus to grow and it also aids in the prevention of root rot.
