Why Organics

org farmOver time, we have come to realize that if you want to absolutely know what is in your food you have to buy organic from people you can trust.  There have been reports that some things listed as organic are sometimes found to not organic at all.  We have the belief if you know the source and trust the source of your product, then you can be assured if they state something is organic it truly is organic.  When we buy products we buy locally as much as we can from people we trust and know that are producing 100% organic products.  This means the product does not contain pesticides, insecticides, or any sort of growth hormones.  This also means the actual product has not been Genetically Modified.  There is a lot of research out their on why organic products are the best way to go.  Don’t believe the hype you see in the media about how non-organic and organic products are equal.  This is a way of trying to convince society that, in small doses, we can ingest anything we want and never pay a consequence.

The next generation of consumers really needs to be aware of GMO’s.  They are going to be the new “standard” in foods brought to the market.  Con Agra, Monsanto, and Bayer Crop Science are some of the large GMO producers.  They are modifying the Genetic Makeup of the actual product you eat so they can sell their seeds and then sell their poisons to control bugs and weeds while their plants produce large yields.  The farmers that buy the seeds have to sign a licensing agreement stating they won’t “clean” the seeds and plant the offspring the next season.  It has been a very no gmolong standing tradition that farmers clean their seeds from their best crops for the following planting season.  In fact, seed cleaners were prevalent in the farming communities up until the Biotechnology companies started modifying seeds.

Biotech Companies  have not only modified the organism,  they also are allowed to apply and be granted patents on plants.  Once the patent is in place and an organic farmer’s crops happen to contain some of the modified plants, they take the organic farmer to court for patent infringement.  They can then try to take his/her land for producing and selling crops without a license to do so.  In short, their plants may end up cross pollinating and since they have a patent on the crop’s genetic makeup, they can prove the organic farmer didn’t pay the fee to grow their genetically modified plant and they sue the farmer.  When the farmer can’t afford to fight because of high court fees, they have to make a decision to pay a fine or give up their land;  many can’t afford to pay the fines.  It’s a sad time in the American Farming Community.

In conclusion, we believe in supporting your local farmers.  We believe that we need to bring back the days when farmers were a focal point in their communities.  We support the American Farmer and choose to buy locally when possible.  We are focused on teaching the next generation of consumers about what they are consuming.  Our dedication to the process of producing organic food will never fade and we won’t ever produce a product we aren’t proud to stand behind.

Eso será difícil de cumplir ya que sólo estamos produciendo 100-200 frascos totales para el año.
